This paper presents a multidimensional assessment of the safety protocols applied in academic laboratories, developed as a case study in Building “E1” of an engineering faculty. The study was conducted using an observational and descriptive approach with an applied focus, considering six dimensions: infrastructure, safety equipment inventory, continuous improvement strategies, economic evaluation, user well-being, and implementation effectiveness. Data collection included structured observation, document review, surveys, and semi-structured interviews with a total of 692 users. The results show limitations in the adequacy of the infrastructure, heterogeneity in the availability of safety equipment, and areas of opportunity in training and preventive culture, as well as economic implications associated with prevention. The study provides a comprehensive diagnosis that can serve as a support tool for decision-making aimed at strengthening safety in university laboratories.
