RECIT’s explicit mission seeks to foster analyses focused on addressing economic, environmental, and social issues. While the network currently features areas such as Innovation Strategies and Technological Development or Sustainable Development Goals, a specific focus on socially relevant content allows technology to be viewed not merely as a commercial or industrial end, but as a driver of human well-being.
???? Research Areas for this Focus
Scientific articles eligible for this new section would be structured around the following subcategories:
Assistive and Inclusive Technologies: Projects involving applied bioengineering, accessible software, or low-cost prosthetics aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities or older adults.
Technological Innovation for Education and Public Health: Digital solutions, telemedicine, or design tools applied to resolving community health crises or educational disparities.
Social Infrastructure and Decent Housing: Articles on architecture, urban planning ("The City"), and industrial design focused on social housing, inclusive public spaces, and transportation solutions for marginalized communities.
Technological Appropriation and the Digital Divide: Studies on how rural or vulnerable communities adopt, adapt, or create technology for their own subsistence and governance.
Grassroots and Open-Source Technologies: Low-cost tools and machinery designed for family farming, local water treatment, or artisanal production.
